Associated hazards and risks

Deep discharge (below ~3.0 V/cell) — risk of irreversible damage and loss of performance.

Overcharge (above ~4.2 V/cell) — significant risk of swelling, fire or explosion.

Current above 30 C rate — using the battery at currents higher than those for which it is designed can lead to overheating and rapid wear.

Impact, deformations/perforations — can compromise the integrity of the case or cells, leading to short circuits or dangerous chemical reactions.

Extreme temperatures:

above ~60-65 °C → risk of major damage, fire;

below 0 °C → reduced performance, risk of damage if the battery is charged/used at low temperatures.
