Associated hazards and risks

Deep discharge (< ~3.0 V/cell): degrades the battery irreversibly and can make it unusable.

Overcharge (> 4.2 V/cell): major risk of swelling, fire or explosion.

Too high current (above 25 C): risk of overheating and damage.

Impacts or punctures: can cause violent chemical reactions and fire.

Extreme temperatures: above 60 °C creates a risk of explosion; below 0 °C reduces performance and increases the risk of damage.
