The SIG Sauer P230 was designed in 1977 by SIG Sauer as a compact concealed-carry pistol, primarily intended for police and law enforcement.

Although not widely adopted by the West German authorities (who preferred larger caliber weapons), the P230 gained popularity in the civilian market due to its small size, reliability, and ergonomics — being appreciated as a backup weapon or discreet personal weapon pistol.

The original model was produced until 1996; it was then succeeded by the SIG Sauer P232.

The P230 GBB replica is a compact, semi-automatic airsoft pistol designed for players who value the maneuverability, portability, and realism of a gas-blowback replica. It is ideal as a sidearm for CQB, tactical games, or recreational airsoft.

Features and construction

Type: gas-blowback pistol (GBB)

Ball caliber: 6mm BB

Magazine capacity: 12 balls

Housing material: polymer / ABS (frame + body) — slide and internal components comply with the airsoft GBB standard.

Hop-up: adjustable, for adjusting the trajectory and control of the balls.

Blowback / recoil mechanism: yes — provides a realistic shooting sensation, with visible recoil and full slide functionality.

Safeties / decocker: the original version of the real one has a decocker — licensed replicas retain functional controls, but check with the exact version purchased.

Overall length: ≈168–169 mm

Estimated velocity (0.20g BB): ~90 m/s

Estimated energy: ~0.98 J (with 0.20g balls).

Weight: ~500 g

Advantages & handling

Compact and lightweight — ideal as a secondary pistol or for CQB/close-quarters situations, where mobility and speed matter.

Realistic blowback — “almost real” recoil and feel of a weapon, providing an immersive experience.

Adjustable hop-up — possibility of adjusting accuracy depending on the weight of the pellets (0.20 g or 0.25 g) and the game scenario.

Convenient magazine — 12 pellets is enough for quick rounds, tactical clashes or as a “backup” pistol.

Modern material / polymer — reduces the overall weight without compromising durability.

Excellent portability — due to its small size, the pistol is convenient for transportation and use in various contexts (indoor, outdoor, urban).

Usage and maintenance recommendations

Uses quality gas, for consistent performance and optimal blowback operation.

Use 0.20g or 0.25g pellets to get the balance of speed, energy, and accuracy.

Clean and lubricate regularly — polymer parts + internal blowback parts require maintenance to prevent premature wear.

Check gas seals and valves, especially if you use your gun in the cold season (low temperatures can affect gas performance).
